Nitrous Oxide

Nitrous oxide, commonly known as laughing gas, is used as an adjunct to local anesthesia to enhance patient comfort and reduce anxiety for patients of all ages. Nitrous oxide is a safe, inhaled gas administered through a small face mask. The amount delivered is carefully controlled throughout the procedure to ensure patient safety and comfort.

As the effects take place, patients typically feel relaxed and calm while remaining awake and responsive. This allows Dr. Mendez and her associates to perform dental treatment, including  root canal treatment, comfortably and efficiently.

The effects of nitrous oxide wear off quickly once the mask is removed. Patients are able to drive themselves home after the appointment and resume normal daily activities without interruption.
